Exercising a taunt at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that PM Modi does not contemplate the spirit, language, culture, or history of Tamil Nadu, yet he is restraining the state power through the central investigation actions.

Spouting to the people of the state through a roadshow in Coimbatore, the former Congress president stated he has familial affinities with the state and is grateful to the people of Tamil Nadu for having a loving bond with his grandmother and father.

“There is a government in Delhi that wants to contain the Tamil culture, language, and history. And the Prime Minister considers that India should only have only one language, one culture, and one idea.

Prime Minister believes that intact India should admire only one person named Narendra Modi. He does not recognize the spirit of Tamil people,” Mr. Gandhi said.

The Congress leader said he has visited the state to persist for the rights of the Tamil people.

Mr. Gandhi additionally insisted that the schemes of the central government like demonetization and Goods and Services Tax (GST) are ending the small and medium enterprises in the state and appended that the Central administration is only working in admiration of some five or six industrialists.

“Tamil Nadu used to be the center of metropolitan progress, but regrettably today it does not maintain that place.

I met representatives from small and medium businesses today and they explained the damage done by demonetization and GST.

He deems just because he commands the government of Tamil Nadu, he can restrain the people of Tamil Nadu. Nagpur can never ascertain the tomorrow of Tamil Nadu,” said the Wayanad MP.

Summoning his personal ”connections” with the state and its people, Mr. Gandhi said he is here to settle back the love his family received from Tamil Nadu.

“I don’t have a political relationship with Tamil Nadu. I have a family relationship with the state. I have an ancestry relationship with Tamil Nadu.

I have come here as your family member. I don’t desire anything from you.

I only want your love and friendship, and you know that my attitude towards you is fair and reasonable.

You had a caring relationship with my grandmother and father. So, I’m grateful to you.

You have provided me so much love that I have to pay it back. I want to help in once again raising Tamil Nadu,” he added.

The Congress leader is on a three-day visit to the western region in Tamil Nadu and will discuss with farmers, weavers, and the public.

He will also visit Tiruppur, Erode, Karur, and Dindigul districts between 23-25 January.
