Chipmaker MediaTek has launched a new 5G smartphone chipset called the Dimensity 700 5G. It is a 7nm SoC which the company says brings advanced 5G capabilities to its advanced camera capabilities and power-efficient design.
The chip combines two Arm Cortex-A76 ‘Big’ cores in its octa-core CPU operating up to a speed of 2.2GHz and 5G-CA (2CC). The new 5G chipset comes with connectivity features like 5G carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA) and dual 5G SIM along with the 5G-exclusive voice-over new radio (VoNR) services.
MediaTek has also announced that the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC will first feature in a Realme smartphone in the coming days. The company said that the chipset will offer smartphone makers “a full suite of choices ranging from flagship and premium to mid-range and mass-market devices”. Most likely, the processor will power the 5G models of Realme 8 and Realme 8 Pro which is scheduled to launch on April 22 in India.
The new MediaTek chip can support high-resolution Full HD+ displays with ultra-fast refresh rates to reduce blur in animations, scrolling and games. It is also said to come with support for multi-camera designs with up to 64MP. The SoC will enable AI camera features like AI-bokeh, AI-color and AI-beauty on smartphones.
The chipset comes with MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology which is said to improve the phone’s overall battery life. It is said to be 28% more energy efficient than an equivalent 8nm processor. MediaTek Dimensity 7005G chipset will also offer support for multiple voice assistants.
