Bodh Gaya and Jammu IIMs are among the four IIMs which run this management programme for candidates straight out of senior secondary school. Indore conducts its exam and IIM Ranchi will accept SAT/IPMAT 2021(IIM Indore) exam scores. IIM Bodh Gaya officials said that it approached NTA realising the absence of a high stake national-level test for admission into the undergraduate management programme, which was joined by IIM Jammu.
For the longest time business education in India has witnessed batches dominated by engineers. In order to address the dynamics of the business world and altering expectations from professionals the IIMs decided to offer business education in the early college space for students who decide way early in life to pursue management.
“At the time of the launch of IPM, we realized the absence of a high stake national-level test for admission into the undergraduate management programme. So, we felt the requirement for a national-level examination, and we relied on the capability of the NTA, and the agency to conduct a test for us,” said Prabhat Ranjan, chairperson, admission, IIM-Bodh Gaya.
The first batch of the five-year intensive course will be a seamless transition from the undergraduate to postgraduate level, closing with an MBA degree comprising 60 seats in each institution, including a supernumerary quota of 10 seats for females.
The first JIPMAT will be conducted on June 20, 2021, in 78 cities across India. The test is an objective one. The exam will be open for all candidates who have passed their Class XII examination in either arts, commerce, or science stream, with a score equivalent to 60% (55% for candidates from SC/ST/PwD/Transgender) or more in the year 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021. They also need to have passed the Class X examination with 60% (55% for candidates from SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender) or more in a year, not before 2017.
